Maintain Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa through HVAC knowledge, welding expertise, and skilled equipment repairs. This is a full-time general mechanic role.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the General Mechanic maintains hotel systems, equipment, tools, and facilities. The position requires experience with fan coils, air handling units, pumps, welding, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting. Previous hotel experience is an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain basic HVAC systems, including fans, belts, bearings, and dampers
- Perform MIG, TIG, stick, and gas welding
- Maintain laundry, kitchen, pump, and shop equipment
- Test fire and life systems through regular emergency diesel tests
- Complete repairs, work orders, and preventive maintenance assignments
Requirements:
- Licensed journeyman mechanic with seven years of trade experience
- Technical school graduation
- Knowledge of OSHA workplace safety standards and procedures
- Intermediate Word and Excel computer skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand frequently
