- Plan and oversee independent, risk-based validations and reviews of models across relevant risk and business domains, including credit risk, financial risk, forecasting, pricing, valuation, capital, stress testing and advanced analytics.
- Assess model design, conceptual soundness, data quality, implementation, performance, limitations, controls and ongoing monitoring, and communicate clear conclusions and recommendations.
- Provide effective challenge to model developers, owners and users, and oversee the identification, escalation and timely remediation of model findings and risk acceptances.
- Maintain and enhance model risk policies, standards, procedures, inventory, risk-rating methodologies and management reporting in alignment with EDC's risk appetite and applicable regulatory expectations.
- Monitor the model risk profile and prepare concise reporting and recommendations for senior management and governance committees.
- Advise stakeholders on model lifecycle requirements, new model use cases, third-party models, artificial intelligence and machine-learning risks, and proportionate governance approaches.
- Build productive relationships across business and control functions, and support regulatory examinations, internal audits and other assurance activities related to model risk.
- Promote continuous improvement through stronger methods, tools, data, automation and knowledge sharing while preserving the independence of the model risk function.

- Knowledge of Canadian financial-sector regulatory expectations and industry practices relating to model risk management, including OSFI Guideline E-23 and related governance, data and technology-risk considerations.
- Excellent judgment, critical thinking and written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues and influence senior stakeholders.
- Ability to establish constructive relationships while maintaining independence, objectivity and effective challenge.
- Bilingual in both official languages (English and French), at the proficiency level required for an EDC leader role.

- Experience with credit-risk models, including probability of default, loss given default and exposure at default; IFRS 9 expected credit loss; stress testing; economic capital; valuation; forecasting; or pricing models.
- Experience assessing artificial intelligence, machine-learning, generative AI or third-party models and the related explainability, fairness, data, performance and governance risks.
- Hands-on proficiency with analytical tools or programming languages such as Python, R, SAS, SQL or comparable technologies.
