About the Role We are looking for a Construction Project Manager (CPM) to serve as the operational and financial lead for our mission-critical data center developments. You will direct cross-functional teams, manage prime contractors, oversee the CAPEX budget, and drive project timelines to deliver high-reliability greenfield builds and active site expansions safely, on time, and within budget.
What you’ll do:
- Project Execution and Schedule Management
- End-to-End Ownership: Direct all project phases from initial planning and site preparation through mechanical/electrical installation, commissioning support, and final site handover.
- Master Schedule: Develop, maintain, and enforce integrated master project schedules, identifying critical paths and proactively mitigating delays.
- Site Coordination: Collaborate daily with the site Managers, design engineers, and general contractors to ensure field execution aligns with design intent and production milestones.
- Financial & CAPEX Control
- Budget Accountability: Own the project CAPEX budget, tracking real-time commitments, forecasting final costs, and coordination with the Procurement & Supply Chain team.
- Change Management: Review, negotiate, and process all contractor Change Orders, ensuring strict adherence to scope and cost justification before authorization.
- Stakeholder Management
- Equipment Supply Chain: Planning and tracking the delivery, staging, and installation of long-lead critical infrastructure equipment (e.g., chillers, generators, UPS systems, switchgear).
- Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the primary project point-of-contact for internal stakeholders (Finance, Operations, Security, Leadership) and external entities (local utilities, permitting authorities, municipal inspectors).
- Quality, Safety, and Risk Management
- Risk Mitigation: Maintain a project risk register, identifying potential cost, schedule, or safety risks and implementing proactive mitigation plans.
- Compliance: Ensure all construction activities conform to corporate safety standards, local building codes, environmental regulations, and data center Basis of Design (BOD) specs.
Working Conditions The role requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to critical incidents. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress.
What you’ll bring
- Experience: 5–8+ years of dedicated construction project management experience specifically focused on mission-critical data center construction (hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a strong plus.
- Skills & Attributes: Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven. Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional teams. Advanced proficiency with construction management platforms, scheduling software, and financial reporting tools. Strong expertise in CAPEX budgeting, financial forecasting, invoice processing, and contract negotiations.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of data center MEP infrastructure (electrical power distribution, UPS systems, generators, chilled water/DX cooling, and BMS/EPMS automation). Strong expertise in CAPEX budgeting, financial forecasting, invoice processing, and contract negotiations.
