Senior Java Engineer in Toronto

Join a high-impact engineering team building the distributed systems that power corporate actions and investment data processing. You will design, own, and evolve production-grade Java services where accuracy, scalability, and reliability are critical to real-world financial operations at enterprise scale.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain Java and Spring Boot applications and services that support corporate actions and complex investment data processing at scale.
• Develop scalable, resilient APIs, microservices, and distributed solutions with a strong focus on accuracy, performance, and production reliability.
• Own solutions end to end across the full engineering lifecycle, from technical design and development through deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Troubleshoot complex application and data issues, implement sustainable fixes, and proactively improve system stability and long-term maintainability.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines to uphold engineering quality and delivery standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and business partners while providing technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers across the team.

Requirements:

• Strong professional experience with Java and Spring Boot, including building production-grade APIs, microservices, and distributed systems at enterprise scale.
• Deep understanding of software design principles, testing practices, performance optimization, and production reliability in complex system environments.
• Strong SQL and relational database experience, with the ability to work confidently with complex investment and financial data structures.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms, alongside familiarity with event-driven architectures and technologies such as Kafka.
• Proven ability to independently drive technical work, take end-to-end ownership of solutions, and contribute meaningfully to architecture and design discussions.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with experience in financial services, investment management, or capital markets considered a strong advantage.

This posting includes a base salary range EPAM Canada would reasonably expect to pay the selected candidate. Individual compensation offers within the range are based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, training, the demand for the role, skillset, and overall business and local labour market considerations. Salary range: CA$95,000 - CA$140,000.
