Affirm is hiring a Software Engineer II, Backend (Identity Decisioning) based in Remote Canada. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Identity Decisioning team, responsible for building backend systems that validate consumer identity in all of Affirm’s products by satisfying regulatory protocols like KYC. The team partners closely with Product, Compliance, Auth, Fraud, and other engineering teams to deliver honest and transparent financial products that help consumers make their purchasing decisions.
What you'll do:
- Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of your work.
- Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design & analytics.
- Create and monitor metrics, escalate when needed, and support “keep the lights on” & on-call efforts.
- Engage in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.
What we look for:
- A total of 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems, proficient in Python or Kotlin.
- Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Ability to take a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components.
- Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
- This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Base Pay Grade: L Equity Grade - 5
Base pay range per year: CAD $133,000 - $183,000. This remote role is open only to candidates residing in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan.
