About the Role

ELITS Canada is looking for an experienced Azure API Engineer for a remote consulting assignment based in Canada.

In this role, you will support the continued development of an Integration Hub built on Microsoft Azure API Management (APIM) and full stack, with the goal of evolving the platform into a modern internal developer platform.

You will combine hands on engineering with technical ownership across API management, developer portals, cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, maintain, and enhance Microsoft Azure API Management (APIM), including API onboarding, backend integrations, routing, gateway policies, and traffic controls.
  • Implement and maintain API authentication, authorization, security, and lifecycle management practices.
  • Develop, customize, and maintain full stack as the central developer portal for the Integration Hub.
  • Manage API catalog entries, documentation, ownership information, metadata, and integrations across connected systems.
  • Build automated API specification validation, linting, and quality controls, and integrate them into continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Automate platform deployment and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (Ia C), while supporting monitoring, observability, and operational reliability.
  • Troubleshoot issues across API gateways, developer portals, catalog integrations, applications, and cloud infrastructure; create documentation and drive continuous platform improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, with at least five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong hands on experience with Microsoft Azure API Management or a comparable API management platform.
  • Experience developing or extending full stack or a similar internal developer portal.
  • Solid understanding of Representational State Transfer (REST) APIs, Open API specifications, and API lifecycle management.
  • Strong development skills in Type Script and Java Script, including Node. js and React.
  • Experience with API security concepts, including OAuth 2.0, Open ID Connect, and JSON Web Tokens (JWT).
  • Experience with Git based development, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, Bicep, or similar Infrastructure as Code and automation tools.
  • Qualities
  • Communicative, positive, and customer oriented.
  • Strong analytical skills, logical reasoning, and problem solving abilities.
  • Responsible, autonomous, and resourceful.
  • Team oriented, organized, and committed to quality results.
  • Creative and proactive, with ideas to improve products and processes.
  • Able to coordinate and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Are you a social, flexible, and structured person with a great interest in information technology? Do you find developing, building, and using the latest technologies challenging?

This position is open to Canadian residents, including persons with a valid work permit in Canada.
