Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Millwright (Maintenance Technician) to support our Mississauga operations. This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving mechanical systems, particularly conveyors, in a fast-paced industrial environment.
This is a night shift position (Sunday–Thursday, 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM); however, initial training will be conducted on day shift for the first few weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial mechanical systems in line with 433A Millwright standards
- Perform conveyor system repairs, rebuilds, and modifications (belts, pulleys, rollers, gearboxes, drives, guarding)
- Conduct precision alignment, leveling, and balancing of rotating equipment
- Fabricate and modify mechanical components including frames, guards, chutes, and brackets
- Perform structural and mechanical welding (MIG, Stick; TIG is an asset)
- Safely operate oxy-fuel, plasma cutting, and grinding equipment
- Operate manual machining equipment (lathe, milling machine, grinders)
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings
- Diagnose mechanical failures using root-cause analysis and measurement tools
- Install and maintain bearings, seals, couplings, hydraulic and pneumatic components
- Execute preventive maintenance with a focus on reliability and uptime
- Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators)
- Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot work protocols
- Work independently on night shift while collaborating with operations teams
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and communicate updates to leadership
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a clean and safe work environment
Qualifications / Skills:
- 433A Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Red Seal certification (preferred)
- Welding certification (CWB or equivalent) considered a strong asset
- Proven experience with conveyor systems and fabrication-heavy environments
- Strong manual machining skills (lathe, milling, grinding)
- Ability to work independently on night shifts in an industrial setting
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
