As a Laboratory Assistant, you obtain blood samples and specimens while conducting patient tests. You support positive teamwork, quality metrics, and customer service. Empathy, care, and kindness help patients through stressful situations during sample collection and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain quality blood samples using skillful venipuncture techniques
- Conduct ECGs, Holter hookups, and required patient tests
- Collect paternity, urine, drug, and breath alcohol specimens
- Enter patient and test information accurately for requisitions
- Maintain confidentiality and follow specimen handling protocols
Requirements:
- Secondary School completion and Laboratory Assistant training
- Specialized phlebotomy training or Medical Lab Assistance course
- Customer-focused approach with genuine care for patients
- Ability to reassure anxious patients during sample collection
- English proficiency; MLPAO or CSMLS certification strongly recommended
