Building Operator in Edmonton

Over your 5 years of experience in building maintenance, you've learned to treat buildings with care and their tenants with even greater dedication. You always look for the best way to do things and aren't afraid to think outside the box to find the best answer. You address every request with a smile and in a timely manner, no matter how big or small, and you also know how to prioritize your multiple tasks. We want you on board because you can work independently but are a team player, and your team and tenants trust you. That stems from you really liking people, which shows in how you interact with others and the ease with which you communicate. What will you do?

• Carry out and/or supervise preventative maintenance and regular inspections on HVAC, plumbing, mechanical and life safety systems;
• Complete tenant service calls such as changing lights, heating/cooling calls etc. in a safe and professional manner;
• Oversee the appearance and safety of the properties;
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions/recommendations;
• Oversee contractors and ensure they abide by contract guidelines and project timelines;
• Respond to emergency after hours calls as required;
• Communicate with Property Management on building and tenant issues regularly;
• Maintain maintenance and daily logs of equipment including meter readings;
• Maintain keys and locks register.

There are also some physical requirements associated with this job. Here are some of the fun things we'll need you to confirm you can do:

• Bending, twisting, crouching, climbing and reaching;
• Move and lift equipment and supplies;
• A combination of walking, standing, sitting and driving.

What type of experience should you have? These are only some of the things we'd like you to bring to the table. We can cover the rest when we meet:

• You've gained your experience in an industrial/commercial/office/retail Real Estate environment;
• You have a valid and clean Class 5 driver's license;
• You are familiar with safety and fire codes and WHIMIS procedures;
• Your computer and communications skills are above par;
• 5th or 4th class Power Engineering or trade certification would be preferred but not required.
