The Senior UX Designer – Data Services is a senior product design contributor within the Product organization, reporting to the Head of Section, Data Services. This role is responsible for the end-to-end design of enterprise applications that serve the DNV global user base, working alongside engineering and product leads to deliver workflow capabilities that support the Transformational Trust Initiative and broader digital platform enablement across Energy Systems.
This role is accountable for design outcomes, including the usability, clarity, and consistency of data-dense advisory workflows used by internal analysts and external clients across the energy value chain. This role sits within Digital & Transformation and operates as a core enablement function, establishing the design foundation that advisory regions, Renewable Certification, and Digital & Data Solutions businesses build upon.
The Senior UX Designer will carefully create, curate, and manage the code-first design system, define the interaction patterns for tables, documents, hierarchies, and review workflows, and produce working prototypes that engineering partners can extend directly. This is a deeply craft-focused role for a Figma expert who designs and prototypes with AI as a natural part of the workflow, with delivery occurring in close partnership with product and engineering leads.
This position collaborates directly with product leads, engineering leads, Global Service Area Leads, and domain experts to ensure our applications reflect both advisory methodology and real user needs. As the platform matures, the role will also help define design standards and practices for the Data Services function.
What You'll Do:
- Product Design & Workflow Definition: Lead the design of complex, data-dense workflows across enterprise applications serving the DNV global user base, from discovery and problem framing through detailed interaction design and delivery. Translate advisory and due-diligence processes into clear information architecture, object models, and navigation that scale across engagements, sites, and portfolios. Define interaction patterns for tables, document hierarchies, triage queues, review states, and notifications, and apply them consistently across applications.
- Code-First Design System: Create, curate, and manage the code-first design system as the single source of truth for our applications, including design tokens for color, typography, spacing, and elevation aligned with brand guidelines; accessible, composable components documented with variants, states, and usage guidance; Figma libraries and variable collections kept in sync with the coded components; contribution and governance model for product teams consuming the system. Build and maintain the design system with Claude Code or comparable AI agents, treating generated code, documentation, and Figma structure as first-class design artifacts, and curate what enters the system with care so it stays coherent as it grows.
- Prototyping & Validation: Produce high-fidelity, interactive prototypes in Figma and in code to test flows with analysts, clients, and Global Service Area Leads before committing engineering effort. Plan and conduct lightweight research, including interviews, usability sessions, and workflow observation, and synthesize findings into clear design decisions. Design and prototype with AI, using agents and generative tools to accelerate exploration, generate variants, and move quickly from concept to testable prototype.
- Cross-Functional Delivery: Partner with product managers to shape requirements, scope releases, and define acceptance criteria that reflect design intent. Provide engineering partners with implementation-ready specifications, component mappings, and edge-case coverage, and review built work for fidelity and quality. Work with domain experts to ensure terminology, workflows, and outputs reflect how advisory work is actually performed.
- Design Quality & Craft Leadership: Set the standard for visual and interaction quality across our applications, with attention to typography, density, hierarchy, and detail in every screen. Apply established UX conventions where they serve users, and deliberately depart from them where our users' workflows call for new patterns. Coach product and engineering colleagues on design practice and foster a culture of craft, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
