Lead planning, inspections, and bylaw enforcement for the District of North Saanich on scenic Vancouver Island. Guide departmental services and municipal decision-making. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director oversees Planning and Community Services. The position requires planning leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution, and knowledge of planning law. It also covers budgets, contracts, staff performance, and advice to Council. Key Responsibilities:
Direct departmental functions, workloads, schedules, procedures, and performance standards Ensure compliance with Council directives and policies Oversee planning, inspections, bylaw enforcement, and departmental records Prepare Council reports, correspondence, budgets, and financial plans Manage staff, contracts, programs, and policies Requirements:
Degree in planning or related discipline with supplemental planning courses Six years of public planning experience, including supervision Membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners Leadership, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills Knowledge of planning law, land use, bylaws, and subdivision processes Apply planning leadership, public-sector experience, and regulatory knowledge to direct essential community services in North Saanich.
