The trouble with some tax roles is that you can spend years preparing returns without ever getting much closer to understanding the planning behind them. This opportunity offers something rather different. You'll join an established independent CPA firm in Stratford, working with privately held businesses, entrepreneurs, agricultural businesses and individuals. The firm has a strong focus on tax planning and advisory, giving you the opportunity to work closely with experienced Partners, take greater ownership of client files and develop your knowledge beyond day-to-day compliance.

Why consider it:

  • $70,000–$90,000 salary
  • Initially office-based, moving to one day working from home per week
  • Established independent CPA firm with a varied client base
  • Exposure to corporate reorganizations, estate planning and advisory
  • Direct involvement with Partners and opportunities for career progression

What you'll be doing:

  • Prepare corporate (T2), personal (T1) and trust (T3) tax returns
  • Assist with corporate tax planning, reorganizations and succession matters
  • Research Canadian tax legislation and prepare tax elections
  • Work directly with clients and respond to CRA correspondence
  • Support compilation engagements and financial statement preparation where required

What they're looking for:

  • 3+ years of Canadian public accounting experience
  • Strong corporate and personal tax experience
  • CPA designation or actively working towards completion
  • Good understanding of Canadian income tax legislation
  • An interest in developing broader tax planning and advisory experience

We support the CPA firms we partner with in building diverse, inclusive and equitable workplaces, and even if this role isn't the right fit, there may be another one that is.
