We are actively growing and looking for a Junior to Intermediate M&A Analyst to join our Corporate Development team. Reporting directly to the Director of Mergers & Acquisitions, you will be a key player in driving our buy-side growth strategy. In this role, you won't just be crunching numbers in the background. You will get hands-on experience across the entire M&A lifecycle—from identifying strategic targets and running valuations, to facilitating due diligence and actively participating in the post-merger integration of newly acquired firms into the Dillon family. This is a new position and can be based out of our London Ontario office. We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.

Responsibilities

  • Target Identification & Sourcing: Conduct market research to identify potential acquisition targets in the engineering, environmental, and planning sectors across Canada that align with Dillon’s strategic goals.
  • Valuation & Financial Modeling: Build and maintain detailed financial models (DCF, precedent transactions, comparable company analysis) to evaluate potential acquisitions and support deal pricing.
  • Due Diligence Coordination: Assist the Director in managing the end-to-end due diligence process, liaising with internal subject matter experts (HR, IT, Finance, Legal) and external advisors to identify deal risks and opportunities.
  • Deal Structuring & Execution: Support the drafting of letters of intent (LOIs), term sheets, and internal investment memos for the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Post-Merger Management & Integration: Play a critical hands-on role in helping newly acquired companies transition smoothly. You will track integration KPIs, resolve operational bottlenecks, and help integrate new teams into Dillon’s employee-owned culture.

Learning & Development

  • Commit to self-development, ongoing learning, and professional development.
  • Drive continuous learning and mentor junior staff in data science and digital project delivery methodologies, developing the next generation of tech-forward leaders.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. (CPA, CFA, or CBV designation is a strong asset).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel with strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple moving parts during a due diligence process.
  • You possess the emotional intelligence required for post-merger integration.
  • Bring a proactive approach to leveraging AI and automation to solve complex financial problems and modernize workflows.

Experience

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, transaction advisory, private equity, or management consulting.
  • Proven track record working in and contributing to a Continuous Improvement-focused environment.
  • History of presenting complex financial information clearly and concisely using clear communication skills and business acumen.
  • Experience challenging existing processes to drive efficiency and utility.
