Our work is deeply purposeful, ensuring that students in some of the state's most remote communities can access high-quality learning, strong wellbeing support, and meaningful connection to school.

We are seeking outstanding, student-focused Junior Primary and Primary Teachers to join our dedicated School of the Air team. This is a unique opportunity for an innovative, engaging, and technologically capable educator who is committed to student growth, wellbeing, and equity in education. This role allows you to teach differently, build strong partnerships with families, and make a genuine difference in the lives of geographically isolated students.

If you are passionate about inclusive education and thrive in a setting that values connection, independence, creativity, and adventure, this could be the role for you.

Why choose School of the Air?

  • Be part of a highly specialised learning community where your work has real impact every day.

  • Work from our purpose-built Port Augusta campus, co-located with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
  • Be part of a culture that values professional learning, reflection, and continuous improvement.
  • Make a meaningful difference for students and families living in geographically isolated communities.
  • Participate in five face-to-face events each year, strengthening student engagement, relationships, and school connection.
  • Experience the unique opportunity to visit families on station and gain insight into life and learning in remote settings.

What You Will Do:

  • Teach a small group of students in a dynamic online learning environment.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences tailored to students' individual needs, abilities, and interests.
  • Foster positive, respectful, and supportive relationships with students and families.
  • Strengthen each student’s connection to school through purposeful communication and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to support learning, growth, and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with the Open Access College Primary Years Learning Team to ensure consistency of practice and strong outcomes for students.
  • Contribute to a team culture that values innovation, professionalism, and student-centred practice.

Who we are looking for:

  • A teacher who is passionate about improving outcomes for all learners.
  • Skilled at building strong relationships with students and families.
  • Confident using digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Adaptable, organised, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Committed to student wellbeing, engagement, and growth.
  • Excited by the opportunity to work in a unique educational setting that is both rewarding and inspiring.

If you are a passionate primary educator ready to bring your energy, creativity, and commitment to a truly rewarding role, we would love to hear from you.
