A guest should arrive at a clean, comfortable room where everything works, receive a warm welcome, and get help quickly when they need it. Rook Hotel is preparing to open 100 compact rooms in Mississauga. We need a general manager who will own the hotel as a business unit: deliver that guest experience, build the team, drive the support needed across the company, and be accountable for the hotel's results. You will build the operation alongside an experienced hotel consultant and have direct access to ownership.

What You Will Own

  • Own the hotel's operating plan, hotel-only P&L, performance dashboard, and path to profit.
  • Work with the consultant and stakeholders on targets and budget, then drive execution across hotel staff and shared teams.
  • Set clear standards for spotless rooms, bathrooms, linen, replenishment, laundry, inspections, waste handling, and room turnaround.
  • Walk the property, measure quality, and resolve repeat failures.
  • Build a warm, responsive service culture around kiosk-assisted check-in and 24-hour on-site coverage.
  • Train staff to greet guests, notice when help is needed, resolve problems, and follow through without passing guests between teams.
  • Create room and amenity checks, defect reporting, maintenance handoffs, and clear decisions on when a room or amenity should be taken out of service.
  • Help build and train the guest service and housekeeping teams through our established recruiting process.
  • Write usable procedures and training materials, contribute to hiring packets and interviews, and coach performance across shifts.
  • Lead internal trials with the consultant and present opening recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Define hotel–restaurant handoffs, guest policies, operating readiness, and the issues that must be fixed before paid stays.
  • Test the property management system, website, app, and check-in kiosks in real guest and staff scenarios.
  • Drive the commercial support the hotel needs.
  • Bring the guest and market insight to shared marketing and sales teams, make sure there is a practical plan for local small-business bookings, review demand and pricing with the consultant and CTO, and press for action when results fall short.
  • Get timely support from accounting, procurement, maintenance, and technology.
  • Monitor guest feedback, room quality, staffing, costs, occupancy, and hotel operating profit.
  • Use what you learn to improve service and financial results.

What Makes You a Fit

  • You played a meaningful role in opening, converting, or substantially relaunching a hotel, including policy decisions, documented procedures, training, and a path to profitable operations.
  • You have led hotel guest service and housekeeping teams and can show how you improved room cleanliness, working condition, hospitality, service recovery, and staff performance.
  • You have owned or materially driven hotel-wide results, can read and act on a hotel P&L, and have secured action from sales, marketing, finance, maintenance, and technology partners while protecting guest service.

Why Join

You will lead a new hotel business unit, with direct access to ownership and a consultant to work alongside. Rook Hotel is part of a growing family-business group with shared teams that can help you build the right operation. The culture values accountability, respect, integrity, practical problem solving, improvement, and curiosity. The role is full time and on site at 3660 Hurontario Street in Mississauga. The working base salary range is CAD $110,000–$140,000, depending on experience. The schedule must flex around opening and hotel operations, including some evenings and weekends. Hotel staff will provide 24-hour on-site coverage. A hotel-profit-linked performance bonus is planned; its terms will be finalized with the CFO before an offer.
