Ctrl's stack spans robotics fleets, autonomous docks, geospatial processing, and operational software used in the field every day. It needs a technical leader who can hold the whole system in their head β and make it faster, safer, and simpler.
As Director of Technology you'll own the technical roadmap across Operate, OODA, AirBase, and the Data Store: architecture, engineering velocity, platform reliability, and the build-vs-integrate calls that decide what we ship next. Note: This is a player-coach role. You'll write code, review designs, and stand next to operators when systems meet the real world.
What You'll Do
- Own the technical vision and architecture across Ctrl's product lines.
- Lead and grow the software and data engineering team; set the bar for quality and speed.
- Make platform decisions β autonomy integrations, edge compute, cloud infrastructure, security posture.
- Translate field and client feedback into a ruthless, sequenced roadmap.
- Own reliability: uptime for docks, pipelines, and client-facing systems.
- Represent Ctrl's technology with clients, partners, and government stakeholders.
What You'll Bring
- 8+ years in software/robotics engineering with 3+ years leading teams.
- Track record shipping production systems that touch hardware β robotics, IoT, aerospace, or similar.
- Depth in at least two of: geospatial pipelines, autonomy/robotics integration, cloud platforms, edge compute.
- Comfort operating in a startup: ambiguity, speed, and hands-on-keyboard leadership.
- Strong communicator across engineers, operators, and executives.
- Eligibility for Canadian security clearance preferred.
