Warehouse Supervisor – Afternoon Shift in Vaughan

The Warehouse Supervisor performs a variety of tasks to ensure the efficient and effective management of receiving and shipping activities to meet customer needs. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills; planning, organization and multi-tasking ability; attention to detail; as well as computer skills.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises shift operations in the warehouse, ensuring customer orders are completed.
• Accountable for productivity and efficiencies of staff.
• Ensures all orders are picked and ready for ship in a safe and timely manner; reports any exceptions to stakeholders.
• Schedules all trucks and runs for the next day and assigns appropriate staging lane.
• Ensures afternoon shift is loading all inside trucks before end of shift to be ready for the Driver’s shift.
• Maintains regular communication with customers/dispatch staff regarding service/delivery matters.
• Optimizes the use of staff and equipment to meet customer shipping requirements.
• Provides direct supervision of staff and ensures that staff are adequately trained to perform their duties in an effective and safe manner.
• Ensures efficient operations are maintained by optimizing staff scheduling, availability of efficient and safe equipment, identifying process improvement opportunities, etc.
• Reports any damage to equipment or shipments, ensuring photographs and reports are completed.
• Maintains a clean, organized and safe warehouse environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 3 years in the warehousing or distribution sector.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory experience, preferably in a union environment.
• Post-secondary education preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Self-motivated team player.
• Ability to effectively handle multiple conflicting priorities.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
