Lead complex credit restructurings at CPP Investments in Toronto or New York, applying creditor-side expertise and commercial judgment to stressed portfolios. As Managing Director, Restructuring, you will strengthen Credit Investments’ capability across underperforming, stressed, and distressed situations. You will advise investment teams on workouts, liability management exercises, liquidity solutions, and formal restructurings. The role partners with Legal, Portfolio Management, and senior leadership to preserve value, maximize recoveries, and position investments effectively before key events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead restructuring strategies for material stressed and distressed investments
- Negotiate amendments, waivers, recapitalizations, exchange offers, and rescue financings
- Assess pathways, leverage, new-money needs, timing, and execution risks
- Advise on capital structures, liquidity, valuation, and recovery scenarios
- Develop playbooks, precedents, market intelligence, and team capability
Requirements:
- Approximately 15 years of senior restructuring experience
- Creditor-side experience representing lenders, bondholders, or institutional investors
- Extensive LME, out-of-court, and formal restructuring experience
- Expertise in liquidity, valuation, recoveries, financing, and transaction execution
- Strong executive presence, judgment, negotiation, and advisory collaboration
- Bring restructuring leadership, creditor expertise, and recovery judgment to CPP Investments’ global Credit Investments platform.
