Connacher Oil and Gas Limited has an opportunity for a Senior SAGD Operator, reporting to the Manager, Operations. This position is based at the Connacher Algar SAGD Facility located 80km South of Fort McMurray. This is a fly-in/fly-out rotation with seven days on and seven days off.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and team-oriented, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong operator experience with previous SAGD experience and control room operations, process monitoring and plant optimization.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor SAGD processes from the control room (steam generation, water treatment, production systems)
- Perform field inspections, equipment checks, and log process data
- Lead or support plant start-ups, shutdowns, and troubleshooting activities
- Execute safe work practices (LOTO, permitting, hazard assessments)
- Maintain accurate shift logs and provide clear handovers
- Collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams
Skills:
- Personal commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental stewardship.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships and leadership capability
- Highly self‑motivated and able to work with minimal supervision; organized with excellent written and oral communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate (preferred qualification)
- 10+ years of operating experience in SAGD, conventional oil & gas, or petrochemical facilities (required)
- Strong understanding of plant operations, safety systems, and process control (DCS)
- Must hold a valid Class‑5 driver’s license and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
