We are seeking a Senior Performance Testing Manager to own the performance engineering strategy and ensure the scalability of our complex, cloud-native enterprise applications. In this role, you will:

  • Design complex workload models using JMeter.
  • Leverage advanced observability tools (Datadog, Splunk) and provide architectural tuning recommendations across Kubernetes environments to ensure seamless end-to-end order processing workflows.
  • Analyze application architecture and intake requests to identify high-impact components, define performance testing scope, and establish robust test strategies.
  • Lead the end-to-end Performance Development Lifecycle (PDLC), developing complex scripts, custom stubs, and solution accelerators using JMeter.
  • Perform deep-dive root cause analysis (RCA), monitor databases to identify slow queries, and provide actionable architecture and performance tuning recommendations.
  • Design, build, and configure comprehensive monitoring and observability dashboards using Datadog, Splunk, and AWS CloudWatch.
  • Validate and optimize application performance across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes/POD environments, and automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ensure the scalability and reliability of critical retail operations, focusing specifically on Order Management Systems (Sterling OMS), inventory management, and end-to-end order workflows.

Work model: We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Vancouver, BC location. Note: The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting. This may change based on the project you’re engaged in, as well as business and client requirements. Rest assured; we will always be clear about role expectations.

What you need to have to be considered:

  • Strong expertise in performance engineering with hands-on experience in providing architecture design recommendations and performance tuning solutions.
  • Ability to understand application architecture, identify components requiring performance evaluation, and perform deep-dive analysis.
  • Capable of understanding intake requests, identifying areas of impact across the application landscape, and defining the scope of performance testing activities.
  • Excellent hands-on expertise in JMeter, including developing scripts, solution accelerators, and custom stubs.
  • Experience across the end-to-end Performance Development Lifecycle (PDLC), including root cause analysis to identify and resolve performance defects.
  • Strong monitoring and observability experience, preferably using Datadog, Splunk, and AWS CloudWatch.
  • Experience in setting up monitoring and observability dashboards is required.
  • Expertise in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes/POD environments, and CI/CD setup is required.
  • Ability to monitor databases, identify performance-impacting queries, and provide tuning recommendations.

These will help you stand out:

  • Good understanding of the Retail domain, particularly Order Management Systems (OMS), Inventory Management, and end-to-end order processing workflows, with specific knowledge of Sterling OMS functionalities.
  • Knowledge of Locust and K6 is an added advantage.
