This Operations position supports two or three-person crews moving trains, rail cars, and locomotives. Conductors assemble trains, operate switches, relay signals, inspect equipment, and communicate by handheld radio. The role requires flexible availability in a 24/7 railroading environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and dismantle trains in rail yards
- Pick up and set off rail cars en route
- Operate track switches and relay movement signals
- Inspect train and equipment conditions
- Communicate with Rail Traffic Control and train crews
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development
- College, vocational, or technical school completion preferred
- Valid driver's licence and effective communication skills
- Ability to pass safety and rules examinations
- Ability to work outdoors and lift up to 90 pounds
