Financial planning, forecasting, and advisory expertise support the City of Kingston's service areas in this full-time Financial Advisor position. Translate operational priorities into reliable financial insight.
Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning, you will advise Commissioners and operational leaders across assigned City groups. The work includes operating and capital budgets, financial modelling, variance analysis, business cases, reporting, grants, reserves, and process controls. You will remain part of Financial Services while collaborating directly with service areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate annual and multi-year operating and capital budget submissions
- Develop forecasts, scenarios, models, and sensitivity analyses
- Interpret financial results, variances, risks, and corrective actions
- Prepare business cases, reports, briefings, and recommendations
- Improve processes, controls, reporting, and data quality
Requirements:
- Three years of progressively responsible financial experience
- Three-year diploma in Finance or Business Administration
- CPA designation or equivalent education and relevant experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills
- Strong consulting, communication, organization, and relationship-management skills
