The Geochemistry Database Co‑op will be part of the Geoscience, Reserves & Mining (GRM) team, within the Technical and Planning function. The GRM team is a diverse group of multi‑disciplinary Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) that use the fundamental principles of geoscience to better understand Teck's assets. The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to assess geochemical data and apply accepted Quality Controls (QC), thus helping ensure that these foundational datasets are fit for use. These datasets are fundamental inputs to geoscience models and reserve and resource calculations that are used to quantify the value of orebodies and to develop mine plans.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to improve skills in data analysis and data compilation, while gaining valuable insights into industry best practices. The ideal candidate is keen to deepen their understanding of the application of geochemistry and quality control principles. If you have an interest in geochemical data, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn how to manage geochemical data. You will also learn to evaluate it and confirm it is suitable for its intended use. • Assist in continuous improvement through the streamlining and standardization of Teck's geochemical databases across all sites and operations.
  • Engage with, and support projects across Teck with their geochemical/analytical needs.
  • Create and evaluate new ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business.

  • Familiarity with relational data management solutions such as Access, acQuire, Datashed, etc. is recognized as beneficial.
  • Familiarity with GIS and Geoscientific software packages (ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, LeapFrog, Imago, Krux, ioGAS) is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to recognize trends/anomalies in data.
  • Interest in geochemistry, analytical chemistry and/or data science.
