Aspira Hygate Waterloo Retirement Living is seeking an Environmental Services Manager. This role is responsible for leading the Housekeeping, Laundry, and Maintenance departments to ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality within the community.
The Environmental Services Manager will:
- Oversee the environmental services of the retirement home.
- Plan, coordinate, direct, and monitor the effectiveness of all activities within the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance departments.
- Hire, onboard, orient, train, schedule, supervise, and provide feedback/coaching to team members in the environmental service department.
- Manage departmental budgets and ensure the availability of adequate resources and equipment.
- Ensure the building and its equipment are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and well-repaired condition.
- Manage the upkeep of external grounds and supervise the waste management program.
- Ensure that linen and residents' personal clothing are laundered efficiently.
- Assist in the implementation of the fire safety program.
- Manage the quality assurance program for housekeeping, maintenance, and laundry services.
- Oversee and manage the routine and preventative maintenance program.
Qualifications include:
- A degree or diploma from a post-secondary institution with relevant experience in environmental services.
- Completion of Fire Safety planning training as per provincial regulations.
- A background in the building trades, with the ability to read and interpret building prints/drawings considered advantageous.
- Two years of supervisory and/or management experience in housekeeping, laundry, or maintenance practices.
- Strong people skills to guide, motivate, and supervise a diverse team.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada or a valid work/study permit.
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check.
