Working within BCAST, the Research Assistant/Research Fellow will support the TURBOCOOLING Innovate UK project. The work develops advanced aluminium brazing technology for high-performance heat exchangers. You will optimise brazing processes, simulate temperature distributions, and assess brazed-joint performance through experimental and modelling activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Optimise aluminium brazing processes for heat exchanger applications
- Simulate temperature distributions within aluminium workpieces
- Develop apparatus and methodologies for manufacturing brazed joints
- Characterise brazed-joint microstructures and mechanical properties
- Maximise mechanical performance through joint microstructure optimisation
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related discipline
- PhD in a related engineering field is desirable
- Interest in experimental and modelling aspects of aluminium brazing
- Ability to work part-time at 9.58 hours weekly
- Availability for the stated fixed-term contract
Apply your aluminium brazing, temperature modelling, and materials characterisation skills within BCAST's specialist research environment.
