The Opportunity
Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, the Environmental Services Assistant performs routine repairs and minor maintenance while delivering excellent customer service to residents.
What You Will Do
- Perform routine repairs and minor maintenance on building systems, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment.
- Complete painting, minor carpentry, and exterior grounds maintenance (excluding contracted services).
- Conduct regular inspections of the premises to ensure maintenance and safety standards are met; report findings to the supervisor.
- Follow established facility policies and procedures, including safety protocols and safe work practices.
- Fulfill housekeeping and maintenance duties as required while performing handyman responsibilities.
- Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adult residents.
- Uphold and promote the organization's values, including ethics, integrity, and professionalism, as outlined in the Code of Conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Strong ability to work independently and self-manage tasks.
- Physically capable of performing job duties, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
- Experience with minor repairs to facilities and equipment.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, heating, water, gas, mechanical systems, plastering, and painting.
- Ability to manage and track budgets, including recording work completed and associated costs.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices.
- Must provide a current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check, including a Criminal Background Check, or be willing to obtain one.
