Big Country Equipment is hiring an experienced licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic (Equipment Technician) to perform field service, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy mining and construction equipment. This is a rotational field-service opportunity working a 14-days-on, 14-days-off schedule. The successful technician will troubleshoot and repair off-road heavy equipment using company-provided tools while supporting customer operations safely and professionally. • Recommend required repairs and opportunities to improve equipment reliability.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, customer-site requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain all required trade certifications, licenses, and site training.

Requirements:

  • Three or more years of recent experience diagnosing and repairing heavy or off-road equipment.
  • Recent field-service experience is preferred, ideally working independently from a service truck.
  • A valid provincial trade certification as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician is preferred.
  • Licensed Truck and Transport Mechanics or Agricultural Equipment Technicians may also be considered when they have relevant heavy-equipment repair experience.
  • Red Seal certification is an asset but is not required for candidates who hold a valid provincial trade certification recognized in the province where they will work.
  • Experience repairing mining equipment is preferred; however, strong experience with construction, forestry, agricultural, or other off-road equipment may also be considered.
  • Experience repairing surface drills, electric shovels, or hydraulic shovels is an asset.
