Build reliable data pipelines with BCFSA as a Junior Data Engineer in Vancouver, using SQL and Python within a hybrid work model.
This temporary 12-month contract supports BCFSA's data strategy and enterprise data capabilities. You will develop pipelines, transformation logic, integrations, curated datasets, and data products for reporting, analytics, regulatory operations, and decision-making. The competition may assess candidates for Junior Data Engineer or Data Engineer levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and optimize data pipelines, transformations, and curated datasets
- Build ingestion, integration, and orchestration processes across systems
- Develop SQL and Python data transformation logic
- Monitor jobs, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions
- Maintain documentation, metadata, lineage, and operational procedures
Requirements:
- Working experience or practical exposure to data engineering solutions
- SQL experience and one programming language, preferably Python
- Knowledge of ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and data modelling
- Exposure to Azure, Fabric, Databricks, Synapse, or similar platforms
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative discipline
