Underground Mining Engineer in Val-d'Or

As an underground mining professional with an interest in consulting and client engagement within the base and precious metals sector, you are a dynamic, creative, and innovative mining engineer committed to delivering high-quality services to a growing client base.

With us, you’ll get the opportunity to:

• Provide mining engineering and design services for underground mine studies, including scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility, detailed design, and NI 43-101 technical reports.
• Import block models and select underground mining methods.
• Calculate cut-off grades, optimize underground stopes, and develop mine designs.
• Prepare mine plans and production schedules, calculate equipment fleets, and evaluate mineral reserves.
• Calculate capital and operating costs, contribute to financial models, and write study reports.
• Work closely with our geology, ventilation, rock mechanics, drill-and-blast, and infrastructure teams.
• Manage the mining scope of large projects and liaise with clients on technical matters.
• Deliver high-quality services that uphold BBA’s professional reputation and mentor junior mining engineering staff.

Summary of Certifications and Job Requirements:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in mining or geological engineering from a recognized university.
• Experience working at a mining operation, in engineering and/or in project evaluation.
• At least 8 years of experience relevant to the position.
• Member of the OIQ or eligible to register with a professional association for engineers.
• Advanced proficiency with underground mine design and planning software (Deswik preferred).
• Experience selecting mine equipment and estimating capital and operating costs.
• Working knowledge of budgeting, scheduling, and financial modelling.
• Understanding of the key components required for a successful mining operation (processing, tailings, infrastructure).
• Passion and aptitude for mentoring, training, and sharing knowledge with other engineers.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and spoken.
• Enthusiasm for business development and the growth of the firm.
• Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally.
• Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec.
• Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients in a professional and technical manner.
• Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, for varying durations and occasionally to remote locations.
• Intermediate Spanish skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in South America.
