Baseline is a ‘lending operating system’ for Private Lenders based in the US, who make real estate secured loans, primarily to real estate investors or developers. Our platform allows lenders to originate and service loans, manage borrowers and investors, streamline business processes and create technology-enabled workflows that allow them to expand their businesses and improve profitability.

Baseline is hiring a critical team member to help shape the future of our company: a User Experience (UX) Designer. This is a full-time, in-person position at our offices in Toronto.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead design initiatives that empower lenders with new and meaningful ways to connect with their borrowers and investors.
  • Lead the ongoing evolution and upkeep of our tools and design system to ensure consistency, accelerate development, and continually raise the bar for our user experience.
  • Own the design process from initial briefing all the way through to research, definition, prototyping, and testing.
  • Develop and test copy to help shape a consistent language framework that enhances usability and drives user action.
  • Deliver polished, production-ready designs, while documenting your research, decisions and rationale.
  • Collaborate with a tight-knit team of designers, product managers, and engineers to navigate technical and resource constraints and bring your ideas to life.
  • Become an expert in private-lending workflows, collaborating with lenders, borrowers, and our customer success team to uncover insights and drive smarter design decisions.

What we’re looking for:

  • 2–4 years of experience designing and shipping impactful digital experiences.
  • Experience working on SaaS or web-based products, turning complex workflows into experiences that feel clear and intuitive to users.
  • Strong visual skills with proven experience using hierarchy, white space, and typography to create designs that look as good as they are easy to use.
  • Strong grasp of design principles, usability heuristics and research methods.
  • Ability to take full ownership of the design process, all the way from research and framing through to polished, production-ready designs.
  • A user-first mindset, grounding design decisions in real needs and context.
  • A user-centered mindset, advocating for users while knowing when to make thoughtful concessions for business goals and constraints.
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain design rationale and build alignment across the team.
  • A willingness to learn new tools and methods, and to continually improve your skills alongside the product.
  • An appetite for exploring how new tools, including AI, can support exploration, testing, and iteration.
  • A bias toward action and iteration; comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Why this opportunity?

This is not an ordinary 9-5 role. It’s a chance to help take an early-stage startup from zero to one and define your future career. Here’s what’s in it for you:

  • An opportunity to directly enter the Design team of an extremely fast-growing B2B SaaS company.
  • An unmatched career accelerant, giving you direct exposure to and ownership of the product design function.
  • The ability to see the tangible impacts on the overall success of the Baseline business, based directly on your efforts, and the associated sense of purpose and meaning in your work that delivers.
  • An opportunity to work on, give input to, and learn about the entire operating methodologies of a fast-growing SaaS startup.
  • Massively increased earning potential due to the skills and experience you will develop in this role, both inside and outside of Baseline.
  • Empathetic and devoted leadership, coaching and mentoring from a tech industry design veteran.
  • A comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, drug, paramedical and vision coverage up to generous maximums.

The annual compensation range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000, with an opportunity for stock options and to earn above-market benchmarks in the future based on your contributions to the continued success of the company.
