Technical Solutions Consultant – Millennium Computer Systems Limited (MCSL)

Location: Remote, Canada (Pacific Time preferred)

Working hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time

Employment type: Full-time, permanent

About MCSL: Millennium Computer Systems Limited (MCSL) has built software for higher education since 1996. The company started out implementing Banner systems for colleges and universities, then built its own reporting suite, Millennium FAST (Fast Administrative Support Tools). FAST is a web-based reporting and analytics platform that sits alongside major ERPs, including Ellucian Banner and Oracle PeopleSoft. It covers financial, student and financial aid, HR, and budgeting and forecasting reporting. Colleges and universities in Canada, the US and Australia use FAST to deliver more than 20 million reports a year, and MCSL reports a 98% client retention rate.

Responsibilities:

• Work directly with MCSL's higher-education clients to diagnose and fix technical issues in their environments
• Write and change Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code to fix client issues, and carry those fixes into MCSL's own development environment where needed
• Deliver custom development for clients as needed
• Explain technical problems, fixes and next steps clearly to client stakeholders
• Work closely with the Technical Solutions lead and take ownership of a growing share of the team's client work

What you'll bring:

Required:

• 3–5 years of hands-on development experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL. This must include writing and changing code, not only support or triage.
• Strong verbal and written communication, including the ability to work directly with clients
• Ability to work 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time

Strongly preferred:

• Experience with Ellucian Banner, either technical or functional

Nice to have:

• Experience in higher education or with university and college clients
• A broad technical background and a track record of picking up new languages and tools quickly

Compensation, remote work and vacancy:

• Salary range: $70,000 - 85,000 CAD base, depending on experience
• Remote: Fully remote within Canada. Pacific Time preferred. All roles work 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
