This role combines immigration program administration, cross-functional collaboration, risk management, and strategic problem-solving to support business objectives and workforce continuity, with a primary focus on Canadian and U.S. immigration matters.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Canada day-to-day immigration activities, including new-hire work authorization, work permit and visa renewals, status changes, and permanent residence processes, in partnership with external immigration counsel.
  • Support the U.S. Immigrant Visa Process (Permanent Residency / Green Card), including coordinating with external immigration counsel, employees, and internal stakeholders to facilitate case progression, monitor key milestones, and support timely completion of required activities.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to employees, business leaders, and internal stakeholders, providing guidance and education on immigration processes, requirements, timelines, and potential business implications.
  • Collaborate with Global Mobility and Relocation teams on cases involving both immigration and relocation requirements to ensure a coordinated employee experience.
  • Partner with Right to Work teams to support employment authorization verification processes, provide immigration-related guidance, and maintain compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Manage competing program priorities and time-sensitive immigration needs, balancing business demands, employee experience, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify and escalate immigration-related workforce continuity risks, including work authorization gaps, permit expirations, processing delays, recruitment constraints, and potential employee retention challenges.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive immigration case records, ensuring case statuses, key milestones, expiration dates, and required next steps are consistently documented and updated in internal systems.
  • Manage immigration-related employee inquiries through Wolken, ensuring timely responses, appropriate tracking, effective resolution, and adherence to established service expectations.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external immigration counsel to strengthen immigration processes, standardize operating procedures, support compliance audits, and implement improvements that enhance program efficiency and service delivery.
  • Monitor Canadian and U.S. immigration policy and regulatory developments, collaborating with external counsel to evaluate potential impacts on employees, recruitment, and business operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in corporate immigration, immigration consulting, global mobility, or a related field, including significant hands-on experience managing Canadian employer-sponsored immigration matters and supporting U.S. immigration processes.
  • Deep working knowledge of Canadian employer-sponsored immigration frameworks, including: Global Talent Stream (GTS), Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) and associated work permits, GTS LMIA applications involving Quebec Acceptance Certificates (CAQs) and associated work permits, Canada–United States–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) work permits, Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) work permits, work permits under applicable international free trade agreements, and recruitment-supported LMIA applications and associated work permits.
  • Experience supporting U.S. employment-based immigration processes, including nonimmigrant work authorization and the U.S. Immigrant Visa Process (Permanent Residency / Green Card), with an understanding of case coordination, documentation requirements, and key processing milestones.
  • Experience partnering with external immigration counsel to coordinate case activities, address escalations, and support effective immigration service delivery.
  • Strong understanding of corporate immigration compliance obligations, regulatory requirements, and confidential employee documentation practices.
  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume immigration caseload, track critical deadlines, maintain accurate records, and prioritize time-sensitive requests with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex immigration requirements into clear, practical guidance for employees, business leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.
