The Student Counsellor provides direct mental health and wellness services to K-12 students within the Board's tiered support framework. Working under the Mental Health Services Manager, this permanent position delivers timely, student-centered support. Services include individual and group interventions, mental health promotion, attendance support, and suspension support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide short-term mental health interventions for K-12 students
- Deliver individual and group counselling using evidence-based approaches
- Assess needs and develop personalized re-engagement plans
- Respond to critical events following Board protocols
- Maintain accurate, timely, confidential documentation
Requirements:
- Minimum one year counselling or mental health support experience
- University degree in Social Work preferred
- Registered with Ontario College of Social Workers or Social Service Workers
- Experience with children and youth preferred
- Valid driver's license and district travel ability
