When this team introduced the App Store, it launched a cultural and economic phenomenon that changed the way people live, work, and play. These engineers and dedicated Program Managers continue to innovate the platform, now home to over 1.5 million apps — each created using the team’s own software development kit and related services. All those apps mean the store takes billions of requests from more than 500 million visitors every week, across iOS, macOS, tvOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and visionOS. To deliver such a rich experience at this scale, Program Managers partner with the engineers to build high-performance systems backed up by robust testing. In a world where apps have become essential in people’s daily lives, the App Store team has become essential to Apple’s business.

We are seeking an innovative Engineering Program Manager for the App Store ecosystem. You will influence and lead the delivery of business critical features built for the App Store. You will collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, QA, Legal, Privacy, Trust & Safety, Operations, and other organizations to manage pipelines to support new App Store features. You will drive and ship all aspects of large, cross-functional projects including features designed to support the Apple Developer and Customer experiences. You will lead all aspects of multiple concurrent projects and features including scope, requirements, timelines, resource allocation tracking, stakeholder management, communications, and risk assessments. You will define business, functional, and reporting requirements, often writing them yourself. Your role will be critical to improving how App Store features are built and executed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and influence the delivery of business-critical features built and executed on the App Store, working under tight timelines, and with limited details and directions.
  • Drive and oversee all aspects of multiple concurrent projects and features, including scope, requirements, timelines, resource allocation, and reporting.
  • Define the business and functional requirements for the features and the systems that will support these projects.
  • This role requires not only project management but also basic data modeling, state machine design, and an understanding of the technical and human interaction aspects of tooling.
  • Own the overall cross-functional schedules that may affect multiple engineering teams, including client, server, tools, reporting, and others.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical program and/or project management experience involving complex server/client interactions.
  • A track record of building products by driving collaboration across product, design, engineering, QA, ops, and other key stakeholders.
  • A technical background with software application architecture and development is extremely helpful.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical field or at least 5+ years of comparable experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, and logical structuring abilities with clear ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into solid action plans.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) to all levels of an organization. Strong facilitation skills (requirements sessions, design meetings, progress and status meetings).
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive multiple tasks to completion with minimal oversight, showing strong self-motivation and accountability.
  • Experience with iOS app development is a major plus. Experience in game development or other games industry background is an added plus.
  • Experience using AI tools to optimize recurring tasks and derive operational efficiency.
  • Bonus points for past programming experience.
