We’re looking for a senior engineer who can own the design and delivery of large, complex systems and raise the technical bar across the team. As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you’ll drive the architecture and technical direction for significant parts of AWS AppSync, take on ambiguous problems that span multiple teams, and set best practices in design, operational excellence, and security. You’ll mentor other engineers and multiply their impact, influence the roadmap alongside product and engineering leaders, and continuously identify areas of growth within the existing frameworks, tools and processes to develop further technical mechanisms that reduce waste and continuously improve.
Key job responsibilities:
- Design, build, and operate large-scale, highly available components of AWS AppSync
- Drive the technical direction and architecture for significant areas of the service
- Take on ambiguous, cross-team problems and turn them into clear designs and delivery plans
- Raise the bar on operational excellence, security, and code quality through best practices and design and code reviews
- Mentor engineers and multiply the team's impact through your technical leadership
- Partner with engineering leaders to shape the roadmap and deliver features to customers around the globe
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
