Modernize high-volume Java and Angular applications in Toronto through hands-on performance diagnostics, technical design, and architectural problem-solving. This hybrid contract requires onsite work. As an experienced Application Modernization Specialist, you will support a major higher education technology transformation.
Assess legacy Java 8, Angular, and AngularJS codebases while investigating security vulnerabilities and technical debt. Collaborate with developers, database specialists, and infrastructure teams to shape scalable modernization solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess Java and Angular codebases for debt, vulnerabilities, dependencies, and modernization opportunities
- Investigate performance through profiling, tracing, SQL analysis, and load testing
- Evaluate REST, JAX-RS, JPA, and Db2 integration bottlenecks
- Design incremental upgrades, monolith decomposition, and service extraction strategies
- Develop prototypes, technical designs, remediation plans, and effort estimates
Requirements:
- Eight-plus years of professional Java development experience
- Three legacy Java modernization projects involving Java 8 or earlier
- Two production AngularJS-to-Angular migrations with hybrid coexistence strategies
- Expertise in Spring Boot, REST, JPA, Hibernate, Maven, Gradle, and Angular
- Experience with large codebases, databases, profiling, security, and performance testing
