The Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations and financial integrity of SCOUT’s Experiential Hubs. This is a hands-on accounting leadership role. The position will own the accounting close, financial reporting, cash management, inventory accounting, accounts payable and receivable, sales tax compliance, internal controls, and financial processes supporting retail, installation, service, and product sales. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable working in the details and understanding the bigger picture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the day-to-day accounting functions for SCOUT Experiential Hubs.
- Maintain accurate and timely general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Establish and maintain accounting procedures and controls appropriate for a growing multi-location retail operation.
- Ensure transactions are accurately coded to the appropriate entity, location, department, product category, and account.
- Maintain clean and well-organized financial records.
- Identify accounting discrepancies and drive timely resolution.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.
- Develop and maintain appropriate accounting policies and procedures.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and prior periods.
- Provide management with meaningful analysis of revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and profitability.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting.
- Experience with month-end and year-end close.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to independently identify problems and drive them to resolution.
