The Opportunity

Our Land Canada team is looking for a Senior Manager, Land Services whose accountability will include leading both a team of Land leadership and a diverse team of Calgary-based and geographically dispersed regional land professionals supporting TC Energy operations across Canada. Reporting to the Director, Land Canada, this role provides strategic and operational leadership for land services, including the general maintenance and acquisition of land rights, resolution of complex land and access matters, landowner and stakeholder relationships, the Public Awareness damage prevention education program delivery, and implementation of Land corporate and functional priorities across TC Energy’s Canadian footprint.

The Senior Manager will translate business strategy into a clear multi-year plan, oversee consistent and risk-informed service delivery, address systemic issues and strategic risks, and build the talent, partnerships and processes needed for sustained performance.

What you'll do

  • Set direction and deliver results across Land Services by translating Land Canada and business priorities into clear objectives, implementation plans, measures and accountabilities.
  • Lead medium and longer-term planning, including workforce, budget, workload, capability and regional service delivery planning, to anticipate demand and deploy resources where they create the most value.
  • Provide leadership, governance and oversight for complex land and operational matters, working with subject matter experts to ensure consistent standards, sound decisions and timely resolution of issues.
  • Identify systemic issues, emerging trends and strategic risks; use data, scorecards and business insight to drive performance, continuous improvement and informed escalation.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with Operations, Projects, Regulatory, Legal, Indigenous Relations, Public Awareness and other functional partners to align priorities and resolve cross-functional issues.
  • Represent TC Energy with landowners, rightsholders, agencies, industry partners and other external stakeholders, using sound judgment, negotiation and advocacy to achieve durable outcomes.
  • Lead major initiatives using disciplined program planning, risk-based decision-making, effective change leadership and strong execution.
  • Oversee adherence to applicable land and regulatory requirements, legislation, policies, controls and safe work practices, including proactive identification and resolution of compliance concerns.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement by simplifying processes, strengthening controls, improving data and reporting, and enabling consistent adoption of new ways of working.
  • Champion a safe, inclusive and high-performance culture in which team members understand how their work contributes to Land Canada and enterprise objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree or an appropriate professional accreditation.
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in land, energy infrastructure, operations, projects, regulatory, stakeholder relations or a related field.
  • Combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with accountability for people, business outcomes and organizational performance.
  • Demonstrated strategic and systems thinking, with the ability to connect short-term execution to longer-term business objectives and consider multiple perspectives and interdependencies.
  • Experience leading complex programs or initiatives, creating implementation plans and delivering measurable outcomes through others.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including experience with budgets, workforce planning, resource allocation and performance reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and address systemic issues, make risk-informed decisions and elevate strategic risks appropriately.
  • Strong influence, negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to gain commitment, navigate opposition and communicate complex issues clearly to senior leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to safe work, respectful engagement, accountability and high-quality internal client service.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and coordinating service delivery across multiple operating regions.
  • Project or program management experience, including risk assessment, governance, change management and benefits realization.
  • Demonstrated success building strategic partnerships internally and externally and achieving outcomes through collaboration and influence.
  • Experience using data, trend analysis and performance measures to improve service, manage risk and inform decisions.
  • Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas: land, regulatory, operations, stakeholder relations, energy infrastructure, public awareness/damage prevention or related functions.
