Are you a strategic thinker who can turn customer and category data into a story that drives action? General Mills Canada is looking for a Customer Insights Manager to drive incredible collaboration as the Customer Insights lead for Loblaws. You’ll be the face of the insights team to Loblaws buyers and a trusted partner to our internal sales organization. Your work will help shape assortment, shelving, innovation, and category growth recommendations across our major categories.

This is a high-visibility role for someone who can hit the ground running in a customer-facing environment. You’ll bring relevant experience from a comparable category management, customer insights, retail sales, or account-focused role, then apply your expertise to General Mills brands, categories, and ways of working.

What You’ll Do

  • Be the insights lead and category advisor for Loblaws, building trusted relationships with buyers and serving as a confident, credible face of the insights team.
  • Turn Nielsen, LDIA—the Loblaws customer data platform—and other customer or syndicated data into compelling stories that reveal what is happening, why it matters, and what to do next.
  • Lead category reviews, start-sell conversations, and planogram reset work, shaping recommendations for innovation, assortment, shelving, and total category growth.
  • Evaluate SKU performance and incrementality, then bring forward clear, unbiased recommendations that help customers make better shelf and space decisions.
  • Bring recommendations to life by building shelf examples and showing buyers how the data translates into an actionable in-store strategy.
  • Equip the sales team with insights for customer negotiations, playbooks, and business conversations—including share-of-shelf analyses—while helping them understand the commercial implication behind the numbers.
  • Stay close to customer needs, proactively uncover opportunities, and challenge assumptions with the integrity to recommend what is best for the total category.
  • Collaborate across the insights team and with GIC Mumbai colleagues who support data pulls and tactical analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferable in business or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in customer insights, category management, retail sales, account management, or a closely related field.
  • Experience working directly with Loblaws or a major Canadian retailer—with an understanding of retailer ways of working, including customer data platforms, category reviews, buyer engagement, or planogram processes.
  • Demonstrated experience using Nielsen and LDIA, along with other customer-specific or syndicated data, to develop business cases and recommendations.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong English-speaking communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with buyers, sales partners, and stakeholders at different levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate analysis into a compelling story and actionable recommendation.
  • Experience working directly with customers, retailers, buyers, or cross-functional commercial teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with category reviews, planograms, assortment optimization, shelving strategy, innovation launches, or start-sell meetings.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to connect data to strategic business planning.
  • A track record of thought leadership and making recommendations that support the total category—not just one brand or company.
  • A collaborative, proactive working style and the confidence to build relationships externally and earn trust internally.
  • Comfort presenting to customers and responding thoughtfully to questions in real time.

  • The posting for this position is to fill an existing vacancy within the organization.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis. General Mills will not provide sponsorship for work visas for this position.
